Jumeaux mésopélagiques

Jumeaux mésopélagiques, inspired by Beauchesne’s works, is a ceramic work with the style of painting and sculpture. In this work, there are two spider crabs on the huge table, head to head, stretching their legs. Shells of these crabs, in the shapes of both the great meal and skeletons, were created by the artist with “China White” during the period when ICAA was stationed in Dehua. If more than 10 pieces carefully decorated white fragments are reminiscent of skeletons, it is because the mold were plants: the bamboo roots. In this grotesque and gigantic work, the artist incorporated the creatures from the deep ocean into the two images in traditional Chinese culture that symbolize antiquity and positivity: crabs and bamboos.
