Tubing Series • Enchanting
"Entwined" from the "Tube Series" uses clay as the medium to explore the extension, entanglement and breathing sensation of tubular forms in space. The work is composed of several ceramic tubes that exude a vibrant sense of life. These tubes are not rigidly arranged but naturally coil and nestle against each other like vines, creating a dynamic organic structure. It is as if breaths linger and flow in the space, or as if life's veins are silently growing and connecting. The surface of the tube walls deliberately retains the marks left by the ceramic slip casting process, and is decorated with pure white ceramic slip. Through the stacking of the tubes, a rich yet restrained texture and play of light and shadow are formed, hinting at the accumulation of time and the surging of inner energy. "Yíng" implies entwining and meandering. The work aims to transform the intangible "entwining" - such as thoughts, breaths, emotions, and the passage of time - into tangible forms through the primitive yet warm material of clay. It is not only the construction of spatial structure but also a visual metaphor for the inner spirituality, inviting viewers to quietly experience the serenity and remoteness that linger beyond the physical forms and entwine in the heart. Through the balance of hardness and softness, reality and void, movement and stillness, it conveys the unceasing vitality and poetic philosophy of Eastern thought.
