Verb Series —Tie No.9

Born in Jingdezhen, a city renowned for its ceramics, my life has long been intertwined with this art form. Therefore, I see myself as a piece of clay in Jingdezhen, that nourished and shaped by its diverse ceramic culture. My creative practice originates from a bodily perception of clay as a material. Using clay as a context, I generate forms through actions such as twisting, tying, coiling, and weaving, transforming the process of movement into tangible shapes, making ceramics a medium that records bodily language and inner emotions. These movements arise naturally from the interaction between hand and clay, establishing the most fundamental dialogue between human and material, while I act as the generative intermediary in this process. Clay is a fluid body, and through gesture and bodily perception, I seek to dissolve the boundary between object and self—because I am a piece of clay in Jingdezhen.
