Celestial Ring

Celestial Ring is a ceramic wall sculpture that evokes the quiet majesty of celestial phenomena and organic rhythms. Radiating from a deep, glazed center in layered hues of blue, the piece unfolds in a meticulous arrangement of thin, folded porcelain elements—resembling the corona of an eclipse or the rippling surface of water seen from above. The circular form is both meditative and monumental, inviting viewers to reflect on cycles, gravitational pull, and the fragile boundaries between inner stillness and outer movement. The work is built from porcelain and stoneware clay, forming a dense yet delicate structure. The central area is glazed with a rich, earthenware finish that pools like a tide within the core. The outer "rays" or folds, unglazed and textured, amplify the tactile contrast, resembling geological formations, sea life, or astronomical rings. Mounted on a wooden base and held together with care and precision, Celestial Ring plays with associations—buoys, halos, eyes, voids. It suggests a protective force, a threshold, or perhaps a quiet orbit around memory or place. Its symmetry and materiality ask the viewer to slow down and consider the spaces in-between: between land and sea, body and cosmos, surface and depth.
