Sensitive
Sensitive is a porcelain grain relief that brings together translucent porcelain grains and an airy knitted cord of mercerized cotton, creating a subtle interplay of texture and light. The porcelain grains are miniature (≃ H 4-4'5 cm x W 1.5-2 cm) and ultralight pieces with thin and translucent walls created one by one thanks to the technique of wool embalmed with porcelain. By dipping thick strands of carded wool into liquid porcelain, the clay naturally accumulates at the tips, forming slender membranes reminiscent of cocoons. After post-finishing and firing the ceramic at 1260 °C in an electric kiln, only the extremely delicate clay remains, with a texture that subtly recalls a dried leaf. This approach challenges and redefines the thresholds of porcelain’s finesse and luminosity. The grains are ultimately brought together by an airy, hand-knitted cord, meticulously stitched onto a metallic thread canvas crocheted into a delicate mesh. This innovative method explores the subtle interaction between density and lightness. Sustainability is at the very core of my artwork. I work solely with natural, locally sourced materials, devising methods that minimize the use of raw resources and leave behind only the slightest trace of biodegradable waste. Each work is meticulously handcrafted by natural daylight and fired through locally sourced renewable energy, reinforcing a practice deeply rooted in ecological consciousness.
