Light Spindle

This work draws inspiration from the fossilized forms of mushroom coral, translating their rhythmic lines and semicircular structures into ceramic form. Through the medium of porcelain, it reinterprets traces of natural history, allowing them to resonate within a contemporary public context. Natural materials such as porcelain clay are combined with wood fiber and plant-based binders, preserving organic textures and an earthy tactility even after high-temperature firing. The material choices reflect an environmentally conscious approach, aiming to explore how ceramics can exist in harmony with ecological systems and public environments. The piece becomes not only a reconstruction of natural form, but also a metaphor for the delicate balance between humanity and nature — aligning with the goals of the “White Porcelain Public Work” category in fostering environmental dialogue and public engagement.
