sequence

“Sequence” is an experimental installation based on parametric design and multi-color clay 3D printing, aiming to explore new possibilities for contemporary ceramics driven by technology. The work unfolds in the form of a “tower,” composed of multiple cylindrical units stacked vertically, each featuring digital images. It resembles a monument constructed from code and clay, embodying the deep logical connection between materials, algorithms, and form. The generation of patterns is based on the compilation and reconstruction of image pixel data. Under programmatic control, color and texture exhibit a “coded aesthetics” within rationality. The texture of each unit module is both the result of digital computation and the material response of ceramic material to digital logic. Textural changes, akin to data fluctuations, are “printed” into the clay. The overall tower-like stacking not only expresses the construction of a spatial order but also symbolizes a new form of ceramic language intertwined with information, images, technology, and craftsmanship. The work emphasizes the visualization of “craft logic” in the creative process, transforming algorithmic rules, material behavior, and formal growth into tangible structural forms. “Sequence” is the intersection of technology and clay, rationality and sensibility, compilation and construction, representing a profound exploration of the “form's essence” and its generative mechanisms.
