"One-sided·Plant Series"

The *Fragmented Botany* series achieves three key objectives. First, materials convey natural themes: jade porcelain’s translucence symbolizes understanding nature, while plant rubbings’ veined patterns in light suggest human-nature symbiosis. Black pottery’s light absorption represents ecological harm; its plant reliefs evoke the fragility of ecosystems. Second, it reinterprets Eastern aesthetics’ “five ink tones” in 3D. Underglaze colors and lighting create a gradient mimicking traditional ink painting techniques. Third, the series breaks from conventional forms. Classic shapes are split into geometric clay slabs, with cuts and holes disrupting symmetry. The pieces mimic paper texture, and the organic overall design gives inanimate objects plant-like vitality. Inspired by naturalism’s conservation ideals and Eastern aesthetics’ harmony between man and nature, these works transcend traditional craftsmanship. They recreate ink wash art through light and shadow, using fragmented elements to suggest “transcendent space,” thus elevating craft to ecological philosophy. This approach critiques environmental degradation while expressing Taoist principles of interconnectedness. Plant rubbings, inspired by fossils, prompt ecological reflection. Monochrome impressions symbolize a damaged ecosystem and climate-related plant bleaching. The black-and-white contrast warns that plant loss means civilization’s collapse, aiming to foster a collective commitment to coexistence and emphasize design’s role in ecological conversations.
