“Home” is supposed to be a kind of developing- continuation of my previous work. Compared to my previous work it is the expression of a subject in a new perspective. My earlier works are mostly figurative ceramic sculptures. I have dealt with historical, health, social manners of the woman subject in different terms of my artistic life. “Home” is not only the first step of experiencing the technic and material combination (which I used seperately before) but also an expression of a kind of inner sight apart from the previous work.
It is figurative work presenting environment and sceneries of my daily life transferred onto surface.
The reason for choosing space and environment theme together with the figure subject is my move to Germany 2 years ago.
In my home country I lived in the capital city which I know the streets by heart, the sceenes, environment, buildings, local organization style of these were very familiar to me. Long drives to different cities was not the part of my daily routine. Moving to a new country also changed my perception of environment, space and home. My new life offers me traveling to 3 different country and a few different cities in a single day. By this way I have the oppotunity to observe different characteristics of sceneries, spaces, streets, daily living and social habits of this environment which is unfamiliar to me. Such a change paved me into a questioning and restructuring of new me. And the place that I call “Home” now is a calm village contrasting a multi-cultural and multi-scenery multi-countried social and physical environment with a new me inside.
I shoot a lot of photos of the sceneries of my daily trips. I try to convert them to the silhouette images in black and white and transfer it on the porcelain surface of the figure. I play with them, I add some texture and brush strokes by hand. By this way they look like traces of the sceneries and creates an abstract decoration on the body of the figure. I would like to examine the contrasting effects of the black images decorating and contrasting the pure white porcelain figure. Application method of the transfer and printing of the images is very important since they will be applied on a curvy surface of the figure. Thus “Home” starting point of a new technical challenge for me.
